As of today, the Repubs have outdone themselves in plumbing new depths of stupidity.
Since the ACA was first signed into law, they’ve been telling us how the American people are against it, don’t want it, want to repeal and replace it, etc, etc.
Now that it’s in place (albeit with some website problems) they’re bitching because so many people are having trouble signing up for it! In other words, so many Americans hate it that the web site is crashing under the strain of people trying to buy it!
The ACA is not a website. It is a way for Americans who are sick and can’t afford medicine to finally have a way to buy it. The website is just a portal into that idea. You can buy it by phone or by mail as well-you don’t need the website.
The web site will be fixed sooner or later and those millions upon millions of people who were just a little more patient will be walking taller, healthier and not worrying about going bankrupt when they get sick.
And to those who believe (or hope) that the frustration with the web site will doom the ACA, stop being so naive. Do you really think that the chance to see a doctor for someone who hasn’t done so for years isn’t enough incentive to go back to a website a few times? Are you serious?
And the problems with the web site simply prove its popularity. If Americans hated the ACA so much, they wouldn’t be trying to sign up en mass, and we wouldn’t even know that the site had problems, would we?
I don’t care if the web site is down for months. The net result of the ACA is healthier Americans. Only a Repub could be so cold, so anti-social and so selfish to be against that.
With these congressional hearings, we’re seeing Repubs complaining about the quality of the food in the restaurant, and then immediately getting mad because there’s such a long wait for a table!
OMG! I am so happy that Sarah the quitter is back! She’s going around defending the imbecilic Ted Cruz and, using the tactic that proved so effective in the 2012 election, calling Barack Obama a socialist again! Yee haa!
I thought that the country had tired of Ms Palin, but apparently no one has told her. No one told her that her attempts to hurt Barack Obama have failed, over and over again, to the point that she’s become nothing more than a curiosity. A morbid one, but a curiosity nonetheless.
My new desire is that Sarah keeps talking about Ben Ghazi, Syria, Iran, Libya and other places that she can’t find on a map. My desire is that she continues to stir up the Tea Partiers, so that she and Ted Cruz can form a big, powerful coalition within the Repub party.
I want her and Ted to convince, 20%, 30% even 50% of the Repubs that they should reject mainstream Repub philosophy, keep calling the ACA a “trainwreck” (you’d think they’d come up with another insult by now), and alienating normal, mainstream Repubs from their own party.
Then, the next time the Repubs try to float a Presidential candidate, the Tea Party neanderthals will refuse to support him and float their own candidate (Maybe Cruz-Palin, or vise versa).
Then, with their party fragmented and un-unified, the probability of them actually electing someone for President will be nearly zero.
There is nothing that Lib/Dems should cheer more than Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin succeeding in everything they attempt to do. Fortunately, there aren’t enough idiots in the country to ever elect one of their ilk to the White House (at least Romney is an intelligent guy, and they couldn’t even elect him) and so we have nothing to fear from them. Nothing.
I truly believe that the bigger the Tea Party gets, the better the future looks for Liberals.
To those of you who read my blog..you will rarely see me quoting others.
But, for my son, The Fisherman, I cannot render words as beautiful as Shakespeare…
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say “To-morrow is Saint Crispian.”
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say “These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.”
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-…
This story shall the good man teach his son;…
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.
..Wm Shakepeare Henry the 5th speech
Good job kid.
The other day, someone came up to me and, in quite a friendly manner, told me that he’d like to cut off my left leg. I responded, quite firmly, no. He then said, “Ok, how about just from the knee down?” I, incredulously, told him to get the hell away from me. He then followed with, “fine, how about just the toes?” When I told the guy that he was out of his mind if he thought I was going to let him cut anything off me, his response was, “Hey, I’m willing to negotiate on this, why won’t you?”
Oh, sorry, did I say it was my left leg? It was actually Obamacare. And did I say it was some guy? Oops, it was congressional Repubs.
Yup, a law (just a reminder that its no longer a bill) that was negotiated in 2009 when it was passed by both houses of Congress, then re-negotiated when 21 states challenged it in the Supreme Court (and lost), then re-negotiated during the 2012 election, (remember Repeal and Replace?) when it was a major part of Mitt Romney’s campaign, (he lost), then re-negotiated, at last count, by voting against it 41 times in the Repub controlled House, then trying to get the Senate to do the same,(they wouldn’t).
So, unless my math is wrong, these imbeciles are complaining that the President won’t negotiate about something that has been negotiated 44 times already, just because the Repubs keep losing! I once had a 4-year-old like that. Whenever she didn’t get her way, she kept arguing about it, stamping her feet, holding her breath and refusing to do what she was told until she got her way, even though she never got her way.
It seems that when Repubs don’t get their way (even after 44 times), they throw their beloved and oft-quoted Constitution out the window and, rather than try to use the democratic process that they claim to love so much in order to win, just hold their breath and stamp their feet in the hope that they’ll get their way.
That’s what this refusal to fund the government is, in reality. It is a temper tantrum by the Repubs because they haven’t been able to get their way on Obamacare. They don’t care what happens to the 800,000 people furloughed last Tuesday, or the 1,000,000 children of parents who utilize Head Start so they can go to work and feed their families, or the cancer treatment provided HHS to children. None of those things matter as much as these girly-men getting their way.
Well, maybe its time to take a page out of their playbook. Maybe after all this is over, the Democrats should refuse to vote to fund the government if, oh, I don’t know, we can’t get a gun registration bill passed, or if they refuse to repeal Stand Your Ground laws, or agree to immigration reform, or any of the other things the Democrats want and Repubs won’t give in on.
Yeah, that’s it. Let’s amend the Constitution to include “When the Minority Party in Congress can’t get its way, it should make the country suffer by refusing to do its fundamental job until the Majority gives in.”
Yeah, as long as the Repubs are the minority party (as chosen by the American people) they should never lose anything. After all, what idiot came up with this Majority Rule garbage anyway?
Fox “News” has something called Glitch Watch on their web site. They are studiously reporting any and all instances of problems with the ACA website. Their glee is hardly containable!
They are so unbelievably ignorant of reality that they are using the fact that the Obamacare websites are crashing due to simple overload as proof that Obamacare is not working. They think that the web site crashing under the load of over 1 million visitors per hour proves its…wait for it…failure!
Thats like saying the reason there were 4-hour waiting times outside Apple stores for the iPhone 5 proves that no one really wanted it!
This is the law that Fox keeps saying Americans hate so much. This is the law that Fox keeps calling a “train wreck”. This is the law thats so “unpopular” that the freakin web site crashed under the load of people trying to sign up for it on its first day!
Yes, thank you Fox. You keep up that excellent reporting of how popular Obamacare really is, and we’ll just sit at home and giggle… ∞
